Post subject:  Temp guage 64 850
I have a Smiths electric temp guage I want to wire up into Nan.First of all I am not sure if the guage is a correct one(it came in a box of bits and pieces)It reads 90 to 230 degrees F.On the back of the guage are two terminals marked T and B.I have purchased and fitted a temp sender unit GTR104/52710/GTR101.I understand I have to wire the guage to the voltage regulator.The voltage regulator has three terminals all of which are connected. Not sure where to go from here.

T = Thermometer = sender.
B = Battery.

You can run the battery wire from the voltage stabiliser.

Look at the stabiliser and you will see a wire running to the fuel gauge, you need to get you power from that side of the stabiliser.

Ummm 64 850s didn't have temp gauges ... so no gauge is correct....

...and no voltage stabilisers either.... So, if the fuel gauge works (and there is space for a temp gauge) you probably have a late S gauge set (if you had a Cooper or early S gauge set then the fuel gauge wouldn't work with the stabiliser ...unless you swapped the fuel gauge for an early one????

So I guess the message is that ..nothing is "correct" .... so you just have to test what you have .. and connect it up properly... like me :)

I have an standard 850 centre binnacle with speedo and fuel guage and want to add a temp guage to keep an eye on the engine temp .Have already added an oil pressure guage and will also add an amp guage.Sorry I should have explained . thanks tomar

Please don't add an amp gauge.
Add a volt gauge, it is much safer.

Make that two for Volt gauge over AMP gauge.
Easy to see if charge is adequate.
13.5 or over at the battery is charging.
And under 14.3 it's not overcharging and boiling the battery dry.

Used just love a dash stacked with gauges.

But there's blissful ignorance in driving a std. Moke.

FFS you don't even need a fuel gauge. Just ask the front passenger. :lol:
