Seeing as it's not kosher to have discussions in the for sale listings, I also wondered about this as highlighted by EN40B in the eBay listing forum?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 189wt_1277

Interesting looking, however I thought that technically for something to be supercharged, it had to be driven mechanically somehow from the crankshaft?

I might be missing something, but does what appears to be (possibly) electric fans attached to the carbies air inlet qualify as superchargers?

I await the collective brains trust of knowledge.

Davo

The alternator is driven by the crank and the computer fans are driven by the alternator.

My heater box is supercharged!

Supercharge simply means to add more intake air.
It does not have to run off the crank, although many do the majority do not:
turbosupercharging runs off a turbine (turbo) driven by the exhaust gasses.
chemical supercharging uses the addition of a chemical to increase the charge (the most notable being N2O or "nitrous oxide").

Given electric motors of sufficent power, they could work.
These do not.
None of the electric ones do.
The amperage required equates to directly shorting your battery.

I saw a pink pig fly over Adelaide last full moon too.

Nice ROPS if it is made from correct spec tube though.

This car has been discussed many times, personally I like the pods hanging out the front. Of course the electric superchargers do nothing.

There have been people who have made respectable boost with leaf-blowers but obviously that isn't a practical soloution, But goes to show with a big enough electric motor you will make boost.

They do work, there's no reason why they wouldn't, but those fans aren't superchargers. There's no way they could produce high pressure off the standard electrical system.

They're restrictions if anything, the airspeed whilst the car is moving would out run them.

Who cares about the superchargers.. The car itself looks pretty nice if
You just took them off the front the think would be a weapon for relatively cheap price!
