Post subject: | Disc Brake Drive Flange Seals |
After taking apart an ancient set of Cooper Discs, I noticed there were two different seal types used. One is the usual seal, with the sealing edge running on the drive flange. The second type uses a stranger set up to me. The seal has a metal insert (pictured) pressed into a brass ring the hub which runs outside a metal ring pressed onto the drive flange. Can anyone tell me about this seal? Is this a long forgotten original style of seal? ![]() ![]() |

Ok, I did a bit of a search and looked on Minisport for the sealing ring. I see its just an insert which sits against the drive flange. Obviously the seal runs on the outside of the ring. Its clear now. cheers I haven't played with front drum CVs since the mid nineties! |

Its clear now. cheers I haven't played with front drum CVs since the mid nineties! In the photo at least one of them is fairly worn, and I would advise replacing it as This helps set the pre load on Your bearings Also Your drive flange has bad wear marks where the bearings are fitted You will have to remedy that for sure |

Thanks John, yes they are. So is the drive flange! I've found another pair of flanges however in great shape amongst my spares. I reckon I will stop in on my way to Canberra next Friday and pick a pairof seals up with some bearing kits as well. Have you got them in stock? |

Have you got them in stock? I have the spacers and the bearings but I am not sure if I have any drive flanges |
