When I say Australian gearboxes, I mean as fitted to Australian cars.
As in NOT A+ boxes (except for the very last cars in the late 70s).
Yes, many gearsets were made here (by Borg Warner) but these were made to the BMC drawings, so interchange with UK gears.
I think the gearbox cases all came from UK? Not sure though.
There are a few places in Oz still making gearbox parts (including some gears), Heritage MG is one of them.
Most replacement gears now come from UK but many are no longer made there.
4 synchro remote change boxes were superseded here and in UK by the rodchange box, around 1973-74. But the gears and shafts inside are the same parts, except for reverse. Again, I'm not talking A+ gearboxes here.
