Yes I know I've promised the wife that it will go BUT........
Problem. Have a 67 new cedar green Cooper S. Engine has been rebuilt and has been doing duty in my 850. The 850 shell is now in need of some major rust repairs but I'd rather repair the Cooper S shell. The S is a matching numbers car. The Cooper will need at least new front floors, A panels, boot and boot floor and battery box. Probably front apron, bonnet and doors (at least bottom edges). All of the important Cooper S parts of the shell can be saved. I have the majority of the interior ( most of the original carpet, rear vinyl seats, front door cards and rear cards and roof lining). Still has both tanks. I have the S instruments and panel already in the 850 and restored.
In all honesty, how much do you all think I'd be needing to spend on the shell alone? I want a very good job done but will drive the car rather than concours show it. The interior I can deal with. I'd hate to lose a matching numbers S but is it realistic that I'd get a very good already restored S for less money! Worst case scenario is I sell the S body with my 850 and all S running gear in very good nick??
