As in the title, is this a big issue? The fuel line runs behind the LCB. I've bent the fuel line to run as far away from the downpipes from the manifold but it is closer than the standard exhaust manifold.

I don't really want the complication of an electric fuel pump if the mechanical one will be fine otherwise. It's standard tune (ATM) 1275.

TIA,

Simon.

The fuel going through the hose keeps it cool, but if you're worried about it put some heat resistant non-abrasive hose covering mesh over it.

Get rid of the Mechanical pump and fit Electric. More sensible thing to do.

Most Australian Minis got mechanical pumps to comply with Australian content rules. But the high performance Minis (Cooper, S and GT) all got electric... probably because they work better.

Well they have much the same valves as an electric one. But when the diaphragm gets a hole, they can leak fuel into your sump...
And aren't they a right PITA to get at with a decent exhaust system on.

That's not been my experience. I've replaced a couple leaking mechanical, and one broken mechanical, but the only time I've ever had a problem with an electric was an original SU that was left to dry our for a couple of years. Started to leak around the top flange - however it was close to 50 years old....

If you plan on making any decent HP, a mechanical one just won't keep up in terms of output and pressure.
