Has anyone ever attempted to replace the lock cylinders (barrels) on the drivers door, boot handle and ignition of a Mk2 (winding window) mini?
I'm thinking of buying the lock barrel set online and doing it myself but have never attempted it before and have no idea how to remove and install the barrels;

Alternatively, does anyone know where in Adelaide I could get it done without costing an arm and a leg?
Any assistance or advice would be most welcome.

Just noticed these locks are for sliding window cars-guess it's time to visit the locksmith!!

I bought one of these in but had trouble getting my spare Mk2S handle unlocked first (finally gave it away). So I still have the UK Mk1 tumbler barrel and key somewhere.
I reckon the barrels would be the same, even though the 2 door handles are different.
I will ask John Smidt today.

Thanks Doc, It would be good to find out if there is a difference between the sliding window and winding window doorlock barrels.
Other websites seem to suggest the barrels are different for the two types of door so I'm a bit wary of getting stuck with ones that don't fit.
The 3 barrel set I've mentioned does seem an attractive proposition as you could potentially have new and matched ignition, door and boot keys for the car.

I have jjust recently pulled a bunch of clubman locks apart and rekeyed some boot handles to match my door locks.

Its not hard.

Just dismantle the lock you have and pull the wafers out and line them up in order they came out (dont mix them up)

Then dismantle a boot lock and find enough wafers from the dismantled locks the same size as those removed and insert in bootlock and reassemble and your door key will fit,

There are only 3 sized wafers in all FS locks *basicaly small medium and large).

Its really really simple.

Just asked at Minisport SA and they reckoned the UK sliding door and Aussie windup door key barrels are different. If you take the old door, ignition and boot locks in to them, they repin your old barrels and key them alike for less than $100. I may do this as I don't have any spare locks to play with

$100 thats a bit of a rip.

I assume they would be the same as a clubman (ie they all use an FSXXX key). Have a go at doing it yourself, its not hard.

Ihave checked And they are different
I can make You The key barrel for the Aust door handle If required

I picked up a set of lock barrels for my car some time ago. They work fine after the locksmith put them in for me.

A bit rough first up until the key loses its sharp edges, but a good fix all up.
