apart from muster we also had wintersun on up here in Qld kind of a rock n roll automobile revival thing... old dudes dressed like elvis in american cars... more oil sold for dwindling hairsupply than for V8's...hotrods everywere.... Anyways i spotted a mint condition, but broken down Nash Metropolitan on the side of the highway and thought gee that makes the rubbish on the side of the road look ugly LOL... But then thought about its close ties with the mini and wondered if many new the Nash/rambler association with the mighty mIni... Im not going to blab the story.. but its interesting. |

no - I didn't know the link but it was not hard to find...... Austin's Final Chapter (Austin in Disguise?) In 1951 the American Nash company had started design work on a small 2 seater called the NX1 they intended to add to their line. The design originally called for the mechanical systems to be provided by Fiat. But soon after Nash president George Mason was introduced to Len Lord, president of Austin by Donald Healey (helped to create the Nash-Healey sports car) an agreement was reached for the Austin Motorcar Company to produce the "Nash" Metropolitian. As a result of the agreement, Nash would hold exclusive marketing rights for the Metro. reference: http://www.oldmotors.com/ftr-austin.htm |
