I have replaced the ignition coil(bosch SU12), points and condenser on my ignition system but i am getting no spark
There is 12.2v across the +/- of the coil and all the contacts are clean.

I am not getting a spark from the coil either let alone the spark plug leads.
What is the best way to diagnose the problem so i can hopefully get it to the mechanics for a blue slip.

I think it could be a 29D dizzy but i am unsure.
This is what the points look like

First up, just remind yourself that 12 volts across the coil (+ve post to -ve) means it is connected to ground, and zero volts means the points are open.

Here are a few simple options to try out:

Make sure you points are actually opening and closing. Turn the motor over slowly and check that the 12 volts across the coil turns on and off as it does so.

Check that the tail which connects the wire from the coil to the points is assembled on the points correctly. ie not shorting out onto the thread causing the coil to stay on (This would make the voltage measurement across the coil stay at 12 volts irrelevant of the points being open or closed)

Change your coil out to a know good one and try that.

Change the condensor out with a known goods one and try again.

What is the stacking sequence of the post where you connect the condenser to? ( i am not sure of its exact name.

I have done it as follows,
Insulation
metal thing which connects to the points
Insulation
Black wire
Condensor wire
nut.

Is this the correct set up?

Cheers,
Daniel.

That might be it!

It should go:

Insulator,
Points spring,
coil tail wire,
condenser wire
insulator,
washer/nut.

Don't allow the condenser and coil wires to touch the threaded post.

Convertible Mini on here sells conversion kits for the distributors send him a pm , much better than fiddling with points gaps etc " the kit is an electronic upgrade/replacement i suppose for points etc " well priced too.

Cheers bill
