My 72 clubman is hydro and my 74's dry, wasn't it around 73 that they went to dry?

clubby will have the pressings, and early hydro cars used the same floor pan as 850s... just protected with little plates front and rear

I am considering swaping the hydro set up from a deluxe into an early 850, that does not have the same floor pressings as the deluxe.

Can I use the long cover plates from the deluxe & retro fit them to the 850 or are these "little plates front & rear" different. Any pics would be great.

You would need to drill some big holes through the baulkhead of an 850 body to fit the plastic sleeves to run the front hydro hoses through too.

If the car is a deluxe then nothing, if its an 850 or clubby then the floors wont have the pressings in them for the pipes, or the little metal clips that hold them. Thats about it though.

clubby will have the pressings, and early hydro cars used the same floor pan as 850s... just protected with little plates front and rear so no real hassles unless it's a van (fuel tank is in the way), but that can be fixed too with a 90 degree fitting on the bag or mods to the subframe

The early floors up to sometime in `67 do not have the 2x long sheet steel pressings. And the early pipes were a different shape too. See Mini King bible p204-205.

Sounds like it might be a simple matter of enlarging the holes and fitting the plastic inserts? Just wondering if it is worth the trouble, sourcing new hydro lines, drilling the bulkhead, issues with seatbelts etc. I have a deluxe & the body is not in the best shape but with great running gear & can get a great 850 shell, & don't have the funds to build both.

I'd say if you want it to not ride like a tip dray, either hydrolize the 850 or put Moulton Smootha-ride cones and hi-los into the 850. The latter would be easier..
