Is there a specific spot to drill the holes on the bumpers? or is it just close enough good enough? I have new bumpers and need to fit the bars. Cheers Mark H |

From the notes I took at the time, I drilled mine 38.5mm up from the bottom, and 50mm in from each end. Would pay to double (or triple) check this though - and probably nothing quite like looking at a Cooper S in the flesh an taking some measurements of your own. Good luck! Matt |

Never heard of the expression. I do recall people calling them 'ners' bars and even more confusing 'Nurse' bars in the 1980s but that is a long time dead. let's get it straight ![]() But interstingly - where does NERF come from ![]() |

I thought the nudge bar was the one that comes up from the subframe and guards the grill, much like a bull bar, but I would go hitting bulls with it. ![]() |

If you have a bar that is drilled & all looks good, you could wrap some paper over it to trace the outline of the end of the bar & the position of the hole. This would transfer the position of the hole correctly. After you drill a pilot hole in your bar, dont forget to drill the the final size for the bolt in the same line that the bolt will be installed in, not perpendicular to the bar. "nerf' bars is also what is stated in the mini catelogue Cheers |

I've also heard them called `budgie perches'. About all they are good for, apart from adding wind resistance. ![]() Ditto the `overriders' on 850 & Deluxe, they finally pensioned those off with the arrival of the Mini K. ![]() |

Maybe you have stumbled onto something here. Used to ensure that the navigators foot-hold is secure after pushing out of the mud and hurtling off to get to a dryer place (forward or in reverse...) ![]() An interesting read raisto2. Thanks for the participation, and yes Doc they are useless little ornaments that I guess we see as embellishments of recognition. ![]() |
