Hello all, How do round nose cars go without a slam panel support (either sloped as per Cooper S, or vertical as per others? Does the slam panel alignment suffer over time, or are they okay? I just got a lovely new grille with provision or driving lights, and the sloping slam panel support (as fitted to my Deluxe) is smack bang in the way! Thanks - Matt |

Put 2x straps on and bin the std latch (as per some Nb cars) and you won't need it. But, if you think you need the support on a road car, why not just cut it and move it across a bit? You can't see where it is with a grille in anyway. |

Thanks Doc. That might be the go - hadn't thought of shifting it. Nothing is ever simple, even on these simple little cars! Cheers Matt |

Hi Matt, Haven't had a slam panel support for 15 years or so (removed after close encounter of the marsupial kind). I started of with a piece of threaded rod with suitably installed nuts to stiffen the panel but gave it away as too much bother. Actually the whole cross piece has been modified and is "bolt-in" as per Clubbies Works fine as is ..... Cheers, Ian |
