Here's mine-
2 top bolts are 5/16" UNF x 1", the bottom one is 3/8" UNC (a starter bolt).
IMO you need the bottom bolt for when torquing things up, as the 2 top lugs on the block are fragile and in cast iron.

Can someone please tell me the best point to connect a mini engine onto a standard engine stand..? If there is a picture it would be great Also what size bolts will I need Thanks |

There used to be a thread on here with some pics, but most get a plate made up which uses the alternator/dynamo mounting points as a minimum. I think on mine I used the std plate (spare) which I think I welded onto a new piece of pipe to replace the whole engine stand original unit. Others made a taller plate that uses an existing block hole higher up as well as the two lower ones. No idea what the bolts would be other than imperial. I could probably take a photo tonight if no one else comes forward in the meantime. KB |

Not really. It really is best if you get a piece of scrap pipe and a plate and get someone to drill and weld it if you can't. |

It is important that you mount it so that the whole engine + gearbox can be swung easily through 360°. The best way to fit a gearbox to a motor is drop it on from above, there is less chance of displacing the front 1/2 moon seal this way. |

You may not have to make up a new plate. I used the existing plate on my engine stand and it worked well. All I did was drill an extra hole in it and use a thick washer behind the top bolt so it sat nice and flat against the block. I also got rid of those adjustable arms that come with the stands. Here's a pic.

Gents thanks for your help... I just took the alternator and oil filter off and the engine stand bracket I have fits nicely on 3 points with the help of a couple of spacing nuts and washers Thanks again |
