Post subject: | 69 Cooper S colours |
Hi all, Quick question about 69 Cooper S colours. I will shortly be getting the car painted and, thanks to 69 cooper S's not having an ID plate I have the luxury of picking my own colour! I have decided on Jet Red! I would however love to have the roof black. Was there an option for this colour combo back then? I have looked on the colour charts in the how to section and can't find a black at all. Thanks!! |

Don't think it was but the dealer probably could've got it done for you if that's what you wanted just paint it black its only the roof not real hard to change later |

yeh thought that was the case! One thing I was thinking of doing was having the car painted solid red and getting the roof wrapped, has anyone had any experience with this? They do a great job of it (looks like paint) and it doesn't damage the paint underneath. It's around $200 to get the roof done on a mini I believe! |

Black roofs on Coopers (or other cars) in Oz then were very uncommon, as most of us didn't really want a solar collector on our cars back in the `60s. I mean, heck a heater was an option on many cars then, and A/C unheard of. For the same reason, a white roof was very popular. |

Dodge. Have to agree. Just painted the wife's Cooper roof today - Black. The body will be Red. She just had a look at the picture of yours. Loves it. Just went out and had another look. Looks like a black mirror! Spent months metal finishing the roof. Worth every minute! Cheers Alex. |

![]() Yikes! at least it ain't one of the 4 million White over BRG Minis in this world.... 69 would have been MKII Cooper S and they came mainly in single colours various....I waved at a poo brown one one day and the leather clad Hwy Patrol Officer sort of grudgingly gestured back ![]() ![]() |

if you were driving the car on a 34 deg c day both roofs would be the same temps, only if parked there may be an increase in temp , i insulated under the roof with heat foam from clark rubber . life is to short to stress over small things |
