Post subject:  assembly lube

Hi again guys,

another noob question, when I put the engine together recently I didn't use assembly lube but used generous amounts of the oil I'll be running it in on. It's now been sitting for a little longer than I anticipated and I'm starting to think I should of used assembly lube. If I turn the motor over before starting for the first time to bring up the oil pressure will it be ok? Thanks guys.

Yes it will, but if sitting for a while I would prime the oil pump first:
Remove spark plugs.
Remove oil pipe from block, squirt oil into the block until full.
Wind motor over backwards a couple of turns.
Squirt more oil in until full.
Refit oil pipe but leave the top fitting loose 2 turns.
Crank engine until oil (not air) runs/spurts out.
Tighten oil pipe, refit spark plugs.
VrooooooooM!
