Just about to order a pair of front floors to repair a 65 mini van (Winding windows). The van is not here, so can't check, but should it have a floor with the hydro pipe tunnel, or the earlier style floor?

Early if a 65. Hydro style floors came in `67.
Oz vans had a sedan floor with an extension bit on the back, there was a thread about it here a while back.
And I think Watto mentioned it in TME mag.

UK vans and estates also had a sedan floor with an extension at the back, but did Australian vans use a hydrolastic floor despite not having hydro suspension?

From 1967 on, every Mini here got the `hydro' floor whether it had hydro, or not. This was the Australian made floor. Our `77 van has it.

Interesting, I guess it wasn't worth pressing the plain floors as well.

A floor press forming tool (die) is a big expensive bit of tooling. I think up until 1967 they used imported floors, although many other panels were being produced here by then.

Which would explain why they never went back to the original die once they reverted to rubber cone.

The starter button bump was included in the Oz 1967 floor pressing, all Minis here had it until production stopped in 1978. Whether puddin stirrer, remote or rodchange.

UK cars from Mk3? (when rodchange started) all had a different floor, the tunnel was flat on top and had no starter button bump.
When we went to rodchange here, they just did minor mods to the hydro floor die to accommodate the rodchange shifter mounts. A bit of a bump and 2 more holes.

The section that housed the hydro lines is used for the Brake lines Battery cable, Fuel line and on some models the vapour tube , This gives more protection to all these parts than they had on the early floors

The two Mini K vans I have owned have had English floors. Maybe both had been changed before, but they both looked factory.

I went down thursday and got the pans before checking back here, got some hydro front halves (as I was told it should be) and you were all right, need the non hydro ones.

That's a really nice find. Rat Grey for a van, is there any other colour?
