I have been on the lookout for a nice original mini for many years now (obviously not that actively). A friend of mine calls me up the other day and says that what looks to be an old deceased estate house around the corner has just rolled out a nice looking mini from under it and that I had better get around there. Quick as a flash, I write up a note to place on the car to sound out what is happening with it. I get a call that night from its owner.......

The house is not a deceased estate, but an up coming renovation. The mini has been owned from new and rarely driven and maintained meticulously, from its fastidious owner. He stated that he wasn't interested in selling at this stage, however would keep my number for when he was going to sell.
Although very disappointed I couldn't buy the car, there is still a glimmer of hope that one day I will get the call up.... Every car owners dream to find a mint one owner car, only driven to church on Sunday's.

Anyhow, I still wait for the phone to ring most days. :-)

Yeah don't hold your breathe. I have been given first option on three minis from a deceased estate. That was four years ago. I keep calling every few months though.

I got this (non mini) from where I used to work (ex BMC dealer). Still took me 3 years to get it out!

I rebuilt the engine, brakes, suspension, steering, interior, refurbished wheels, etc..

We waited 15 years to get hold of Audrey the Austin. Don't give up hope.

As for my best barn find, how's a battered but mostly rust-free Traveller sound? Price: Free!! :D

Cheers,
Brett.
