Hi all....

What's the story with the ulp95 disappearing and E10 popping up?

Is E10 ok to use? What do people advise?

I ddint think anyone sold ULP 95 anymore......

Seeing how mini's are old.

Ethanol fuel isnt recommended to be used in any mini because they are made before the manufacture date recommended (I cant remember what it is), Dont know what the story is with Rovers though.

I have a mate who runs ethanol fuel in his GT (or atleast used to) and he thought it was great and hadnt had any problems.

Also heard stories about it desroying rubber seals and stuff

I know there is now 100 Octane stuff sold at United that i think is greater than 10% ethanol.

Personally i always buy Super that is ethanol free (or supposed to be :wink: )

Basically it can stuff old rubber, i believe new fuel hose is compatible though. I have also heard mixed stories about whether or not it effects carb components like needles/jets etc.

Apart from that it absorbs moisture from the air, so if you don't use the car regularly you will end up with lots of water in your fuel tank.

United 100 has ethanol in it.
91 is a bit low in octane unless you have a bog stock 850 or 998.
95 and 98 premiums are OK, however they seem to be disappearing from some servos.
My local 7/11 (on Vardys Rd Kings Park) has NO 95 or 98 pumps anymore. :shock:
All they stock now is E10, 91ULP, and Diesel. :cry:

Not really conclusive but the rubbers will fail and corrosion is a problem because the water doesn't separate out as easily. So you can introduce waater that could corrode into the fuel system.

Some of the independently run servos have it, otherwise its relatively cheap to buy a drum of it. I know a guy running his road/race mini on E85. It is pretty awesome. 8)

I've been using United's Premium 98 with Ethanol for 3 or 4 years now. Its my Moke's favourite flavour.

... and the worst things...its economy is crap, and it'd be a damn long way to the next servo that has any, so far.

As long as you build the engine to suit.... straight methanol would be even better .... just make sure you fit the extra tank.
