| Post subject: | Rear Parcel Shelf Speaker Holes (roadworthyness) |
Hey Guys, Do any of you know what the deal is with speaker holes in the rear parcel shelf in VIC? the PO cut holes in mine for 6" speakers. Will it pass a Road Worthy with the holes (with speakers in them) or will it get rejected straight out and need to be fixed/engineered? Thanks |

If your worried about it, just cover it with a parcelshelf liner. The inspector wont check there. Then put the speakers back in when its passed. |

the clubby has seat belts.... its a '75... i think they became mandatory around '71... |

Get it fixed! You lose a fair bit of structural rigidity when you cut the holes. Use speaker spacers if you want to put your speakers on the back parcel shelf. Hooroo |

Slightly off topic but would a hole in the back seat panel also be deemed unroadworthy? The reason I asked is one of the mini's I looked at, when searching for my first one, had a 12in sub screwed to the back seat and that was the main reason I didn't even make an offer on that car even though it was almost exactly what I was looking for. |

The factory put a 10 inch hole in the back seat. It was for the rotodip. Same reason theres a big hole in the firewall.

This hole had been opened up to allow the sub to be screwed in place without a spacer. |

True. My P76 had 6x9 holes cut in the shelf. A previous owner stuck some sheet metal over the holes and remade the parcel shelf but my roadworthy bloke still picked it up. It took me some time welding new metal in there.
