Post subject:  Loose outrigger bearing in transfer case

Hi guys.
Took to pulling the car down today for a bit of a gearbox refresh, and unfortunately found that the outrigger bearing (in this case, part no. ADU6033) outer journal is loose in the transfer case. There is early evidence of some rotation - nothing to worry me, but I do want to make it stay put.
What are the options?
The only thing I come up with is Loctite 601, but will it like a permanent oil bath, and what happens when it comes time to replace it - hard enough getting the darned things out, much less when they've been 'tited in!

Thanks for advice!

I can't think how it happened, but I believe its time for a new transfer case.
Lucky they're common and inexpensive!

I'd be happy to - but aren't the turbo ones bigger for the both outrigger bearings?
Might have to measure up tomorrow.

Those outer casings need to be a tight interference fit, usually heat AND a puller is needed to get them out.

If it's not loose fit then loctite maybe, but seems pretty risky... any rotation at all is really bad there.

cheers,

Jacob

The hole looks oversized and worn to me, time for another case.
If it's a turbo box you could fit a standard (late rodchange box) housing, and put the standard bearing in it?
People on here have put 125HP+ @ the wheels through standard cases without outrigger bearing problems.
