Look, I know you still get that warm fuzzy feeling inside (or somewhere else 8) )
whenever you grab the mower, weed wacker or any other device with a carb on it,
but there are other things in the world besides working out how to make a car you can't
use go faster. You're only 14, we can forgive you.

That being said, I prefer reliablility over a 3% power gain, since I don't want to be tuning my car more than driving it. That is something you will have to play with later on down the track yourself and decide what is for you.

And don't get too excited, but a single carb can be just as powerful (or more) than twins, in the right set up.

SEAN I think that you are missing the point here big fella but you can't drive legally at the moment so there is no point worring about the power of you mini if you can't use it so if you only want to use a HS2 then so be it but the remaining factor is , that your car aint going nowhere till you have got your license so don't worry about it.

Pat

My 200 cents worth any way

you'll make better power with an 1 3/4 over twin 1 1/4's, 1 1/2 [edit from 1 1/5 - that'd be way small!] will be about the same, maybe a bit less - proper tuning is always the key. How did you go tuning them after the last topic you posted (stalling)

Obviously it didn't work if he's now considering a change.

Would twin 1 3/4 SUs be too big for a 1100?

yeah, you couldn't get them lean enough for it I reckon.... and just not enough vacuum to get any decent airspeed unless it's a full race motor

I assume your talking about a single 1 3/4 there chris?

Twins would be way too big...

I used to run a 1 1/2 SU...it was OK, wouldn't go much past 5k easily, but it'd do it..going by that, a 1 3/4 single would be about perfect ;)

As with anything good tuning is a must, it just makes such a big difference..

yeah, i'm running a 1 1/2" Su too, and its too small for my engine..
But it is more than enough for a standard 1100, even with a stage 1 upgrade.

i'd say take your mini to a mini specialist to get it tuned, you'll find that there'll be just as much screwing around to get the single su installed and tuned as there is just tuning whats on there.

It takes 30 mins to tune my car.. so maybe 45-60mins to tune twins.. we're talking somewhat less than a hundred quid here.. And no headache.

I would spend the money on the twins you have and get them rekitted and tuned properly by someone who knows what they are doing and preferably on a dyno with a/f ratio.

Hey Meeni,

If you already have twin 1 1/4 SU's I would stick with them. Once they are properly setup they should not need to be fiddled with all the time.

I have had my on for just over a year and I have not had to re-tune them since I fitted them, and they still run exellently. I would, however, like to point out that I fully reconned mine before installing them.

What method are you using to tune them? and what condition are they in?
