http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-Mini-Clubman-Body-Shell-1978-Vintage-/151020516352?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2329863400&_uhb=1#ht_481wt_1318

Would have the same problems as trying to register a new Choke body - legally that is.

There is a Mini K that recently belonged to a member here, when it got reshelled not long after its birth due to a bad accident, the RTA used the body part number that was stamped on it..
Not sure how you would go these days, I think their rules now exclude reshelling with a `body in white' or in this case blue.

The SAVING GRACE might be that the PO never tried to register this shell after the purchasing it.
Even if the GT it was bought to re-shell was transferred in to this shell and sat for decades it was never officially put into the system.

As stated above Re-shelling may be illegal now as opposed to when the shell was originally purchased.

Re-birthing : (Removing the compliance/id plates from a shell and replacing with those from another.) Legal NO NO
Re-shelling : (using a clean shell without ID to fix a damaged Vehicle) Common practise in US and UK and legal.

Cheers Rob

Maybe times have changed but one of my sister's old boyfriends supported a VERY expensive ski racing hobby by rebuilding written off Foulcan GTs using new shells from Ford...

Can you buy a new Falcon shell today????

Cheers, Ian
