Ok so this annoys me:

Image

I want to get a Quaife ATB diff. Lots of people have them and a few people sell them.

Which is the best place to buy from? What is the going rate incl. postage, will I get it under the duty threshold?

I am after one to suit Hardy Spicer uni output shafts if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

M

FWIW, I looked at LSDs for my road registered car recently, and wasn't satisfied that I'd end up with a good result...
Thought about a cross pin diff, as many are now flogging?
Sounds as though they are pretty hardy.

Here's an article from 2000 on LSDs available then.

http://www.calverst.com/articles/Gearbo ... ilable.htm

If you want to go ahead with one, I doubt they'd be hard to find - any of the UK tuning houses should sell them - MED, Swiftune, SH Engineering perhaps..... google your heart out!

Cheers
Matt

Www.swiftune.Co.UK I bought mine direct from them, cooper s outputs add another 155 pound to the total which puts you over the $1000 import limit. If you car is not a competition vehicle I'd recommend a cross pin diff.

Around $960? delivered from Swiftune, for the Quaife std pot joint outputs one. Delivery was quick too..
If buying a crosspin diff I hear the Minispares one ( I have fitted two in the past) is better made than the Mini ***** one.

I think that diff pin has already given it's best service.
Wear not measured in thou, but perhaps hundreds or tenths!

Thanks guys,

I'm not interested in a cross pin. I like the ATB style of diff, very different from a clutch pack style and similar to the factory LSD that was in my old MX5 Clubman.

My car is an Nb racecar style MkI S clone without the cage and $$$$ race engine, so it runs hardy spicers.

I just want to know the cheapest price including postage from those who have bought them.

I'm not even a little bit interested in the argument about whether I'll have to modify the diff housing to make it fit. Far too many angry words written on that topic already!

Where do you get yours GTMowog?

M

As far as I am aware, you'd have to retain the Hardy Spicers for historic eligibility anyway :!:

Kev, that was the good side I took the photo of. The other side has chunks missing that have been torn out and have re-welded into odd spots including the inside of the spider gears.

I reckon this is where all those bits that stick to the magnet on the sump plug come from.

willy, I do intend to keep the HS unis. With the correct adaptor flanges from swiftune I will be able to.

I bought a Quaife ATB diff for my SD1 recently - $960 delivered from Demon Tweeks. You can also buy these diffs direct from Quaife or the Gearboxman, but both were more expensive than Demon Tweeks.
