Hi all, I am wanting to purchase an electronic distributor.

I am seeing prices ranging from 165-550. How much difference is there and is it worth spending the extra money?

What brand type can you recommend?

Thank you :D

Try here , they are the best prices and good product too ,freight is not too bad either, they sell the kits with distributor coil and leads or the just the distributor or just the module to replace the points ....

Accuspark are another. They do the a 23d vacuum-less clone. Also a USB attachable black box (Stealth) to put any curve in you wish electronically stored in the dizzy's ROM.

Simonbbc (available from convertible mini on here) also do very high voltage output units now. No need for pulsar converted dizzies at the cost, and you choose your own advance curve when you order, or take a stock generic curve if that's easier.

I've got both now, one from each company and have used them for a few years. I cant figure why would you pay any more. God bless their clever little hands.

That's a great deal.

What curves do the distributors come set to? Do you calibrate them?

On a side note, how does one know what curve suits their car? Is it to do with engine size, cam grind etc etc?

The Distributors I sell are Made in China. I have not given them any brand names like other international sellers did but I assure you they come from the same manufacturer in China as theirs. As for advance curve they have a basic curve that suits many engines. But any distributor can be re curved to suit different engine set ups for optimum performance. For road use they are fine. I have not had any complaints besides from the odd person who don't read the instructions and wire them up incorrectly or use the wrong impedance coil and blow them up and claim they don't work. I personally test each one before I post it .

I use Scorchers in all my cars, not exactly cheap but well made using Bosch Holden/Ford parts assembled by Performance Ignition Services in Melbourne. Probably unnecessary expense nowadays when the market's been flooded with these cheap, but evidently reliable, Chinese versions.

The Scorchers are built with a custom advance curve developed from your engine specs, and you really can tell the difference. Never had a problem with one of them. But like I said, they are a bit on the pricey side (like a lot of other things made in Australia).
