Post subject:  threads and Powdercoating

i've recently had my subframes powdercoated, and now the threads are coated.. is there a way around this as its very difficult to screw in the bolts..
??

Next time, put a bolt in there!

Your next move should be to try and tap it out.
Ideally, you want two taps. An old one to run through first with plenty of cutting paste, and a new clean one later.

The first one might do enough of a job, I've had to use two before on some stuff that was 2 packed because the primer was acting as an abrasive on the tap - thats why you sacrifice the first one.

hmm ok, i had a feeling i should have left one in there when powder coating D'oh!

Old bolts are the go. We also use ear plugs in place of bolts if its just going to the paint shop works a treat

You will be lucky to find suitable taps at Bunnings..
All they seem to have is metric these days.
If you want UNF or UNC taps, go to a fastener or engineering supplies shop.
