Hi all.

My oil pressure light stayed on after start up and would not go off after a few minutes. I grabbed a pressure gauge off a mate to check all was ok and found it to be about 80 on cold start up. It dropped down to about 60/75 at running temp and down to about 28 at idle. Do these figures sound ok? I did a quick search but it was only a half arsed attempt, sorry.

Since I reinstalled the sender it's turned out that the light goes out now when pressure is up. Does this sound like a dodgy sender? The van had been sitting for probably 6 weeks and it took a while for the oil to pump into the oil gauge line of the tester. Is all good or should I be looking for something.

Thanks in advance fellas!

Those pressures are fine.
The standard sender for the oil light goes out above about 8psi, so yours is a dud.
Whether there is oil in the gauge line or not doesn't matter, the pressure will still get transferred to the gauge via the air in there- there is no flow, just fluid displacement.

Thanks for the quick reply Doc.
It pays to ask just in case.

Cheers.
