Hi people, Can somebody please stick their head under the bonnet and measure for me how much the clutch slave cylinder moves? I know the cylinder has about 1.25" of total travel, but I don't know how far it actually goes when it has clutch load on it and is operated by the pedal. Thanks. ![]() |

Yes please.... I suppose I could calculate it - but only if I knew how much does the backplate needs to move to release the clutch plate???... Cheers, Ian |

I could calculate it, but the real world figure would be smaller due to potential flex / movement of the seals and clutch hose. The calculated movement is 7/8" (using 7/8" bore in slave, 0.7" bore in master and 35mm pedal stroke). I could also connect one to a master cylinder, but that doesn't simulate the weight. I could also measure the one I have - but its a verto clutch and I can't get to it. ![]() |

Harley, Do you have a standard clutch setup? My master cylinder only has 25mm movement - Checked with a bit of wire inserted into the top of the cylinder and press the peddle to the floor. Sorry, but can't tell you how much the slave is travelling as the car is in bits. There is some info in the following article that may help you (not sure the referance to travel taken up by the adjustable stop is correct - the 0.069") He talks about 5/8 movement at the slave, but not sure what size cylinders, or if he considers flex in the hose, etc. if there is any. http://www.minimania.com/classic-mini-c ... cfm?id=153 |
