Haven't had a chance to take the wheel of as yet to see what is going on.
Heard a bit of a grinding sound coming from the front left the other day.
Here is a shot of what seems to be black grease on the mag wheel.
Any ideas or what should I look for when I take the wheel off?

I will get under and have a look in the morning and see if it is the CV boot.

Thanks

The grinding noise was probably the band / tie wire on the boot being shredded off.
The boot might still be fine.

my bet's on a wheel bearing, cv grease wouldnt normally get that far out, would be on inside of tyre.

Had a quick look and the CV boot looks fine.
There is no grease on the inside of the wheel only dripping through the hole in the mag.
Looks like it might be a wheel bearing.

Is it a big job to replace?
Does it need any special tools?
Any tips or leave it to someone that knows what they are doing.
I am very time poor so if it is not a quick and easy job I would rather get someone else to do it.

not a quick fix, you'd best allow 2 hours for someone who has the gear. You'll need big socket for hub nut, 9/16" / 11/16" spanners (disc or drum?)a decent punch and big hammer to work it. Best left for 'experienced' person.

Finally got the parts and headed off to see Eenii Meani.
WOW...... I certainly could not have done this at home.
All the right tools and lots of skill and Eenii Meani had both sides done and a couple of other bits and pieces in about 2 hours.

Thanks so much for your help today.

If any Asminiers are on the Goldie make sure you touch base with Eenii Meani, a great guy and a real Mini enthusiast.
