They didn't have aussie wind up window doors overseas, so there would be no market to make them.

Making them fit is easy, making them look good is not.
What I'd do is request the kit, but only have them supply you with uncut door material that you can give to a trimmer to put over old aussie cards.

Jamie, have you asked Newtons if they can do a set? It wouldn't surprise me if they could. South African Minis used the same doors and I know that there are both them and Aussie ones in the UK.

I bought my countryman interior from them custom made pattern on the seat covers and door cards.

The headlining was wrong, not enough sleeves for the roof bows. The seat covers were wrong, oval backs instead of a flat back. The door cards were wrong, fuel filler on the wrong side. All this despite sending them maybe 30 pictures of the interior to copy.

They did send me replacements for everything that was wrong though, must of been a Friday afternoon order

I emailed Lisa Moffat from Newtons a month or so ago, and she replied:

"We can produce the door panels requested for £56.47 a pair plus delivery of £60 DHL(unfortunately high price for the cost of the item but cannot get any cheaper)."

My question was:
"Hello,
A friend told me you now manufacture interior trim for the Australian
minis - specifically, the door trim for our windup window doors."

I later clarified for her by saying

"these ones have a door handle hole and
a window winder hole below it. Both about 1" holes.
It's a 1968 Australian Mini Deluxe, but in Australia all doors are the
same as these from about 1965 to 1971, so includes Cooper S."

They must have the templates now.

So definitely worth enquiring along these lines.

She asked for a photo, as she was keen to supply the correct trims.

Hope this helps.
Matt

Hi all,
I purchased a Newton complete trim kit late last year. I rang up and spoke with Katie who was fantastic to deal with. She said straight off that they could do an Australan 1968 Deluxe but I sent a few photos any way to make sure.
She sent me a bunch of trim samples to choose from, the whole process went rather smoothly. Everything looks pretty good although I have not fitted yet, it all looks correct though.

I would give them a call and ask for Katie.

I will try to post some photos at some stage of the new trim kit.

Hi I was intouch with Johnny Newton a few weeks ago in regards to Aussie trim and they now make trim for mk 1 Aussie minis. He did say that it is not listed yet but will be soon. He also sent some photo's of there work for Aussie trim if any body wants to email I will forward the info.
I'm looking into getting a classic Mk 1 recliner seat done in Aussie trim for my cooper s.
Regards Pete.

I have a set of newton commercial aussie spec doors.. the fit perfectly. Also bear in mind that the colours and grain is totally different than Australian vinyl..
