Post subject: | Matic badges |
Hi all , couple of questions , I'm currently restoring a 1968 mini matic just wondering if anybody out there has any pictures of the correct bonnet badge , I have the boot badges including the little dot just unsure of the bonnet badge. Also anybody know what the original steering wheel looked like ? Cheers |

So I assume the mk2 matic built 69 onwards would have had a mini K type badge? And the steering wheel would also be different in that case? |

Thanks for the replies guys , that's good news on the bonnet badge as I have one left over from another build but as for the steering wheel , are they hard to come by ? I've found one on eBay in England that will ship here is that expensive for one or a decent price ? http://bit.ly/ZLtL44 John my matic is 3/68 and car number 1925 |

I'm not sure John, I just always assumed it was 68 Mk 1 because of the bonnet badge and single binnacle speedo? |

It's not too sunburnt like the ones I have. The hardest thing I had to learn was the finish. It seems to be over moulded plastic on Bakelite base, so once it wears off the only option is to fill the cracks and paint in polyurethane. The correct Morris horn ring and badge can be problematic to come by, I have a couple but I'm keeping the good one and the other has a few cracks. |

And the steering wheel would also be different in that case? Yes that's correct, from 69 on. The Mini K front badge is now NLA, however a Morris Oxford Series 5 & 6 one is very similar. http://www.bmcfarina.com/contents/en-uk/d30.html |

The early Part of 1969 still had the deluxe type badge and no temp guage or oil gauge In 1969, before June The Mini Deluxe, Mini Matic with Deluxe type Bonnet Badge and The MK1 cooper S were still avail |
