Post subject: | dual circuit brake master cylinder |
Hi, I have what I believe to be a mid 70's dual circuit brake master cylinder that I am using on one of my projects, could someone tell me which outlet is for front and which for rear,eg,top or bottom. It is not a stepped unit and both the outlets appear to be of the same size.Could you pls PM your reply. Thankyou |

I'm no expert but I always thought both outlets were the same, it's up to the rear brake bias to limit the flow to the rear cylinders.....but wait until someone else confirms. |

Bottom -> Fronts Top -> Rears It is important that they are done that way only. |

What is the reason for it to go a certain way, dose one make more pressure than the other or is it a safety thing or something ![]() |

I don't know why (or if) the original clubby tandem cylinders need them this way, but that's how they came from the factory. The bore in both is the same, so it really shouldn't make any difference. The later yellow tag ones that you can buy now need to have them swapped (top for front, bottom for rears). That's because they have a split bore, and the top bore is narrower, which means more pressure is applied at the front. |

Legally, You need more fluid for the fronts, so as they wear and need more fluid from the reservoir, it's there for the takin' Those yellow tag things are illegal in Aust. I have no f&^%ing idea why they sell them when the correct one is still available new ![]() |
