Hi fellow ausminians i have a couple of questions on the temprature engine parts get upto for the following please , for painting. Head ? Block/gearbox ? Exhaust manifold ? Exhaust ? Brake Drums ? Cheers Bill |

For a start the head, block and gear box shouldn't be any hotter than your thermostat - about 88*C - so less than boiling water. Any reasonable exterior paint should do -or use a paint for metal as it's designed to withstand a bit of expansion and contraction. |

Exhaust manifolds can reach 900C or more, use a Hi-temp paint rated for this application. or, use pot belly black. ![]() Use it on the zorst too. You could get the manifold ceramic coated but it costs $$$. |

Thanks for the answers guys i will be using high heat paint but noticed they have a few temprature ranges so wanted to get the right ones. The exhaust i picked up already is painted black and i have no idea if it was heat paint or not so looks like i will be sanding it off and painting it as im guessing if the other paint is not heat paint it would peel off.
