I am looking for a pressure plate to have lightened (to suite a diaphragm spring). Are they all the same, or is there one that it more amenable to lightening than another? At one stage someone told me the “Cooper S” one was better (or did this relate to the tax ![]() The part number on mine is 22A598. |

22G270 is genuine the Cooper S one and is SG iron rather than grey iron (so Vizard says). However it takes a bit of work to lighten them properly without weakening them. It's NOT a good idea to just face them thinner. Have seen a shattered one, I would suggest it's a safer plan to buy an MED or Swiftune light steel one. ![]() http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalo ... -backplate http://www.swiftune.com/Product/1066/sw ... plate.aspx |

So I should sell the 22g270 Cooper S one I found and buy a MED one. May be cost neutral, depending on how much tax people are willing to pay. ![]() |

Indigo, I have faced many Mini clutch backplates including the famous 22G270 one. They all turn like grey cast iron, including the S one. ![]() Cooper S tax eh- once installed you can't read the part number... ![]() |

Beanie, Are you using their flywheel as well? Would need some straps and probably spacers and then a balance. |

Ya flywheel too ... i ordered the straps , spacers and bolts from Swiftune... then had it all ballanced when it landed here .. flywheel and backing plate were pretty good .. it was the diaphram that was out the most ...
