Hey guys, Long time no post!
Im doing up another Leyland , this time is an 'S' so slight upgrade

It had badly rusted out hinge areas on the doors and the usual A panel rust areas, So I welded them up, on the door areas around the hinges I badly warped the area around them and after taking out as much as I could, I still put a moderate amount of bog on them to keep the lines nice. My A panels also have a considerable amount of bog. I think only one area that has more than 3mm is the lower drivers side A panel hinge holes.....

How will the hinges hold up on these bogged areas? How tight do you do your hinges? Do big washers on the inside of the door skin help dissipate the pressure and reduce risk of cracking?

Ive done up a few cars and some have never had problem with heaps of bog on areas that you bolt things on, But I'm afraid this might be too much...oh well too late now.

I'm going to have to replace my a-panel to. But for your situation i recon a bigger washer would be better than not. could you weld some metal in around it to help build it up and make it stronger?

Ive already blocked out my panels, not going to turn back now I'm just wondering what the (tensile?) strength of bog is....

U should be fine if you are replacing the A Panel completely. Just make sure the inner panels are nice and sound and you should be fine.
I used custom patch panels to do mine so In some spots the 2 panels are quite close however I did weld a thick piece of metal in between the 2 on my lower passanger side a panel.

It's not much, I think most italian cheeses are better.

Lead filling would have been a better option as its more flexible and should adhere better on a properly prepared surface. Bog will crack, probably let moisture behind it too :p

And now they're blocked back there isn't really an option to weld the area. Bog is plastic, so yeah, that strong.

Mine was rusted a bit there too, but instead of using the MIG I brazed it up and ground it level. A light skim of filler and it came up fine.

im getting better at it...just with the hinge holes the heat really warped things up..they should be fine. i really should get into brazing too...if im going to be getting into older cars where i dont want much bog at all
