Awful lot of rubbish printed there..... Why can't Nb cars have hydro???

Mk II Austins with wavy grilles?? Mk III introduced the "different" grille shape?? Only Austins had single tanks??

And what's that rubbish about cut-outs under the front bumper only on Austins... has anyone ever seen a Cooper S without cutouts ??? (actually I have one but its pretty unusual).

Cheers, Ian

Ian

The cut-off date for the Nb Category is 31 Dec 1964 based not just on Minis but the broad spectrum of historic race cars. CAMS have been specific on exactitude for the models and of course in respect of modifications, to contain competition for some level of fairness.

This leads of course only to UK manufacture & as we have discussed there were not that many 1275s built between (Austins 14 Feb 64) and Morris (Aug ' 64?). Probably fair to speculate there are more '1275 Morris Cooper S' running around our Oz tracks than those ever factory made! And from that level it leads us to wonder the rules on the cut-outs.

But beyond all that the last two 'new' (NSW) competitor cars are way off respecting or representing the colours of the day. One wears the limey colours of the the mid 70s Leyland. And where do those unnoticed little English Cooper S cut-outs sit then?

you gotta wonder

I see they incorrectly show chassis number YKG2S4 instead of YG2S4 for the MK II S in the Nc document.

Also they say 126940 heads are OK to use...

Doc - don't you manufacture alloy cross-flow A series heads with 126940 cast into them in a prominent position? If so then the rules say it's legal to use in an Nc car.

"...CAMS have been specific on exactitude for the models ..."

Hi Wayne, the point being that they seem to specifically wrong (or deliberately excluding valid cars) - not that there would seem to be any performance advantages ruled out.

By Dec 64 there were lots of Morris and Austin Ss with and without hydro/dry suspensions, twin tanks, oil coolers... etc etc. In fact it hard to think of a singe performance enhancement that came after Dec 64????? (that was standard production obviously..)

Cheers, Ian

Hi All
I don't know what your on about there were no 1275 cooper s raced in australia in 1964 as there were no mustangs, but they were raced on the other side of the world and thats why we are able to race them in NB up to 1964.
Also i don't know of any genuine cooper s cars being raced in australia they are all made up of 850s and mini delux's, thats why our cars have sliding windows one tank no heaters as thats all the pommies s had, as for body numbers you've gota be dreaming, and any body with a body number of a 1964 1275 mini would not be turning it into a race car even Nick Swifts historic mini is not a genuine car as are most of them that run in that historic class.
As for colours what wrong with changing the colour as they did in the day be cause they were dull and boring, have i got a suprise for you  .
Also i hope you don't think the Lotus Cortina's are real ones

That new link is for a different version of the document. The earlier link had updates that allowed 4 synchro gearboxes and any 1275 A-series block but specifically outlawed A+ blocks. This one is less clear. What are the REAL rules?

I believe the crappy CAMS method of handling and distributing their documents is what causes the animosity as recently seen NSW vs VIC in this and other forums. Within on week we have two different versions of a document available.

I think people need to understand that these are not meant to be a history of the car but just a formula for a racing class.

M

Now That is Interesting .. BUT !! the way to read CAMS is if it doesnt say that you CANT do it DOESNT mean that you can ... So just because it doesnt say that you cant use an A+ block Doesnt mean that you can ...

If you can understand that with out confusing yourself your doing well :D
