Ok so what are the differences with these part numbers and the diffs? I can get a QDF36K locally, on the Quafie website they list that diff http://www.quaife.co.uk/shop/search/results/qdf36k as a "pop joint A+" unit. They also have a QDF14K http://www.quaife.co.uk/shop/products/qdf14k which they list as a "Austin Rover Mini Cooper S" unit. Swiftune list a Quafie ATB diff as SW-TR030 http://www.swiftune.com/Product/381/atb ... -mini.aspx and say it's suitable to bolt straight in, slip on the pot joint CV's and your good to go. My concern is the 1st one is the old style that requires the diff housing to be machined, correct ![]() And then the 2nd and 3rd ones I listed are the same unit ![]() Can someone please help me understand these things ![]() |

The 2nd one is for "S" out-put shafts, (steel ujs) the last ones for the pot joint type shafts |

![]() And then the 2nd and 3rd ones I listed are the same unit ![]() Can someone please help me understand these things ![]() the first one needs a different type of crown wheel - a standard crown wheel can be machined but it's a big job. If you can get one locally and if comes with a crown wheel in the ratio you want, and it's cheap, then buy it, but you'll be stuck with the same ratio. The gearbox & diff housing might need to be modified, but it's not hard, just takes a while and obviously the gearbox case needs to be empty! yes, 2nd and 3rd are the same unit.... they drop right in with a standard crown wheel and no modifications required |
