Post subject: | Help!!! Drive Shaft Seem too Long |
Hello All, I just finished installing the passage side drive shaft and it was a bitch of a job because the drive shaft seems too long. (I know the drive shafts are different lengths and I have used the short one, checked many times) Background: Originally my car was twin leading shoe drum brakes. Inner joints are rubber uni, with slip joints. Bought a pre assembled 8.4 inch disc kit. (Hubs, CVs, Rotors, Calipers, Don't know which hubs thought) Order of installation 1. Installed drive shafts into CV joints, made sure the second clip was flush with the CV. 2. Installed all boots, (slip joint and cv) 3. Bolted up the rubber union (NEW unis). (About 1/4 inch of exposed thread above the nylock nut) 4. Difficulty Starts here, both ball joints just wouldn't align, as if the carrier couldn't be pushed towards the car sufficiently. Finally got both ball joints seated. Had to compress the cone, and jack the hub towards the upper control arm (simular for the bottom arm). Problems. 1. When the wheel is off the ground (hanging) the slip joint looks full compressed. Which I would assume should be at it most uncompressed?? 2. The steering is really really really heavy. Couldn't get much movement at all. Any ideas/hints for a young player? because i'm scratching my head trying to work what i've done wrong. |

Hhhmmmm,,,, trying to think of more stoopid reasons,,,,ar,,,,er,,, |

They are drive shafts that came with the car. I'll take a few photographs and then I think it's time to take it all apart and work out whats wrong. Was hoping it was something simple that I had missed. |
