Hey All,

I've a new cardboard oval dash card for my mini K that I'm about to cover in vinyl to match my interior and I was wondering how it is supposed to be fitted. Does it go in behind the speedo surround with the screws visible or is it supposed to be stuck over the top. Looks like it's going to be a finicky job fitting, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Sean

Pretty sure that with the Mini K the card goes in front and hides the screws.

EDIT: If the shape is a good copy of the original the whole card kind of bows and spring's and holds itself into place. Yes you'll need to be neat if/when covering and doing the curve aorind the dash.

Some Minis had a chrome edge on the curve but not the K I don't think.

The card here should be in front of the screws not behind like in the pictures above regardless the model. Sorry.

That is correct in the photos , the card goes behind the dash panel . You will see a lot of made up ones these days that go around the front , but the original fitment was behind .

I agree. I have never seen an original car with the card behind the binnacle like in the photo. I assume this is an attempt to make it look neater as the original fitting was basically jammed in and held in place by tension.

See the photo in this Mini K brochure - http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=73886

This is the reason you need to try to find a template that is a good accurate copy of the original dash card. This goes for the dash card in any model. For them to be a neat tight fit they need to be just the right shape to "snap" into place.

Thanks all for the responses, and a little bit of conflicting info there just to confuse me. haha. But, what a few of you have said, Including John makes sense. I will attempt to fit it so it sits around the plastic oval cover. I may use a little double sided tape to help it stick, as I've seen a few that have sagged with time.

Thanks again for all the help.

Sean.
