I jut got fined doing 174kph in my mini work that one out I got. A 1100 with a 344 diff and it was on a straight rd hmmm

My 1100 could only do 145 (on a racetrack ofcourse).

How fast were you actually going?

Damn that sucks , 174kph seems a bit steep do 1100's go that fast ?

174km/h! you would have been pedal to the metal... I've done 188km/h at the Drags on 3.44 though but that's at the drags...

It is possible with that ratio pulling some big revs downhill with a tail wind. The problem is, the law deems the speed detection device to be correct (even when it might not be!).

Might pay to get some legal advice because the Magistrate will not be happy with you.....

His car wouldn't go 174. It was on a flat, and he didn't even have his foot flat.

Its an 1100, with a 4 synchro box, 3.44 diff, lightened flywheel, single 1 1/2 su, cut down inlet manifold, extractors, 266cam and a worked 202 small bore head.

And if he was going that fast, he would really know it as it would be screamin, and bouncing all over the place (those speeds on country roads are scary)

That makes it 74km over, which means instant loss of vehicle and car impounded. but he policeman decided to make it 130km over.

All sounds a bit suss to me.

I tried to top speed run my mini once. I haven't had a working speedo in it for years and always thought i was going pretty quick.

This particular day i took a gps with me and i stopped accelerating when i got scared at 155-160km/h. I was both scared for my engine (modified 1330cc) and scared because it was bumpy as all hell.

If it was even possible, 175km/h would have been mental.

Their was a story similar to this on one of the "current affair" shows. They ended up taking the car to a race track with a professional driver and proved the car could not do what the police claimed it was doing.
