Hi folks,

Stupid question but I am looking to get a new battery for the 1100 clubby,
what is everyone using?
a cheap one with 350 CCA or something with a bit more grunt.
And are all brands the same?

Cheers

Biggest one you can get in there - more CCA the better.
The reason is power gets lost over the long battery cable length, so you want as much as possible. I think a nissan patrol one is common for fit. Make sure battery terminals are on the right side.

Autobarn have C5 Supercharge brand Falcodore batteries for $99 at the moment, they should be plenty big enough for a mini at 500 odd CCA 2 year nation wide warranty to boot.
But they are a calcium battery so they wont appreciate sitting around if you only use the car on weekends.

You can get a DIN sized battery if you want something a touch shorter so the terminals are below the top of the battery box but they tend to be a bit more expensive.

350 would be a bit on the low side I would think

I have been selling DELCOR batteries for quite a few years now and find them very good. In a Mini I use the NS50PL which has 520 CCA. It would also help to have a decent Alternator and make sure belt is tightened to the correct tension and not too loose or too tight. Also make sure you upgrade the charge wire (B+) if you have an Alternator that charges more than 40 Amps. An additional 6 mm cable from Alternator B+ terminal to solenoid B+ terminal always helps to get the full benefit of having a bigger output Alternator fitted. Just be aware that batteries sold cheap are sold cheap for a reason....... Some companies demand batches of batteries made at a lower cost so they can sell them at a low prices. You need a "FULL" battery not a half empty box of the same size! You get what you pay for.

I have been using these batteries for years, and they're great. I have the 520cca delcor in the mini, and the valiant. If it starts a 4l valiant, it will start a mini :)

We also had one in our daewoo lanos from the factory. We eventually had to change it though - after 13 years and 350,000km. So they last well.

Just a reminder. DELCOR BATTERIES are also made in china. I have never had to replace on on warranty. Not saying they are infallible but compared to brands I have sold in the past being locally produced and imported DELCOR are great quality and Maintenance free.

Buy one that doesn't leak when idiots turn your car upside down.
