Yea...my phone was on 1% battery. Better SOS here.....as wait on the phone keep drainingbattery. I couldnt hv finished typing asking people to call for me and its dead. Lucky saw cop n helped me push to the side Anyway, what maybe the issue. In any gear on stationary engine doesnt stall.....weird.... ![]() Differential? Clutch ? But the clutch has good friction and the NRMA inspected it and cannot figure it out. He saw the lever moves when i apply the clutch pedal on and off... He says maybe the draft shaft it happens to powerful car he says. Is it big crap on this one? Still no time to deal with it atm with work n family..... |

May have popped a driveshaft out of a CV, or broken one where it goes in. I've seen it happen (998 Clubby van). |

Yeah called Ben, I think it's a driveshaft issue rather than a clutch issue |

By the way, I did some research and I prolly know where the problem is. Will look for the CV joint and the CV axle tomorrow under the car. If any one of these breaks the car won't go for sure (that's what the guy in uTube says). Also I think I checked last time, put in gear it is like neutral but speedo goes up. I heard a bit of noise prior to that when I did a sharp right turn (so will check for the left CV first tomorrow), but the Mini went for another 2-3 kms before it breaks on the slope up on Epping road when I shift down gear, and it's not an instant break though. My research is below, seems matches my symtoms!!!!!!! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 920AA1CXeV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMMutpmWr94 (between 2mins:11secs - 2mins:40sec) By the way, is drive shaft and CV axle the same thing? And also, should I get a 3 ball or 6 ball in the CV? |

Driveshaft = axle. CV has 6 balls, so does the pot joint. It is Japanese and Euro cars that have 3 balls (in the inner CV), not Minis. |

I visited Ben this morning and checked out the front end No oil leaks ![]() Drive shafts and both inner and outer CV joints seem ok although one is leaking grease due to failed boot tie. I suspect a diff failure, but as it is a non mini engine/gearbox unit it's outside of my mini limited memory banks Good luck Ben |

Some updates as people PM me asking. Took it there last sat to Grieg. He basically started working on it on Tuesday and I got it back on the road on Weds. He took only 5.5 hours to fix it. Grieg said the shaft was not broken. The shaft is basically a Mini shaft modified (cut short and resplined) to suit. Grieg inspected and saw the splines of the right hand side inner CV side were distorted (curved and not straight) as it was not deep enough. He said the circlip were not holding it. He fixed it by welding and some other things with the rings. Too mechanical for me, but he said it is way much much better now. It is sweet now....lol He also inspected the gearbox n check the transmission oil. It was very clean. He also told me if I wanna sell it plz let him know first as a customer of his were there last week and saw it and loves it n asking if I wanna sell. Ben |
