The binacle connector may have come out of it's socket. Two screws and you can pull the dash out to have a look. it may have been loose for a long time and has finally popped out. Just push it back in and all will be well. Cheers Aaron |

Your earth is tight in the engine bay. not the strap, the set of wires connected to the body of the car next to the fuse box in the engine bay. Try that. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but it sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Cheers Aaron |

Have you made sure the plug into back of the instrument cluster has clean connections? steel wool works well. There is all sorts of wierd stuff dodgy connections can do: I was wondering why my temperature gauge went through the roof when I turned on my headlights ![]() ![]() |

Maybe all that stuff shares a common earth maybe check that also most of that sort of stuff is switched on by the ignition so maybe check you are getting power to the instruments and stuff from the ignition. The starter and circuit going to the coil are switched seperately so if this were the case then it might explain why they are still working. |

![]() ![]() Some of the stuff you mention like headlights are not fused so that answers that. The engine ignition may also fall into this category, not sure. The other stuff definitely runs from the fuse box, so as Aaron said, I would start tracing around for a bad earth or connection (or check fuses). The tailights have a fuse behind the ignition panel on the dash in clubmans from memory (or at least mine does). |

Sometimes fuses can look good from the outside, but internally there is no connection. They eventually fail over a long period of time because they are just an alloy wire soldered to each end cap. Each time the car is used the small amount of current with the aid of oxygen and vibration will contribute to oxidation fatigue failure. Takes a long time but eventually they fail. Test with a multimeter and if more than 0.2 ohm replace. |

i had the exact same thing happen to me after i installed my angel eye headlights, no interior lights, nop brake lights only headlight but no highbeam, turns out one of the wires from the parker lights had come loose and was earthing out onto the body of the car, so maybe an wire touching the body somewhere could be the culprit trent |
