Can anyone provide a good contact or reference for a rolling road/Dyno operator in New Zealand that has experience and knowledge enough to tune a mini well?

Particularly someone who can profile custom needles?

South Island would be best but any will do.

I've used Peter Zivkovic at race car preparations in Wgtn
though I have heard good things about Angus Fogg's garage
in Akl (a little far away I must admit)

Just hit up the local clubs for info, they'll know the good and those to avoid. Links to them all are on our site

I believe I have one of Peter's old 1293 race engines (short block), and I'd be keen to go see someone like that. I'm trying to plan for getting the Supercharger set up running and I'm not sure I could drive to Wellington with a suspect needle. I suppose the alternative is to take the parts to Wellington and build it up there.

Ideally I'd find someone in ChCh or South.

Thanks for the club suggestion. That's a good one, and definitely something I'll be aiming to use. I couldn't find the links from the HB site. I'm a member of the Canterbury club, I just haven't had a chance to make the most of it since my mini's been off the road.

Eh? Click on 'Links', every club in the country is there, unless I've messed up? :(

Apologies, I didn't get past the parts suppliers. I'll blame my phone but it was probably just me being a bit blind![/img]

i don't know of any dyno operators who are Su friendly.

Most are fuel injection specialists

Nz could do with one

Ah yes...smart phones...the curse of web design! I admit it doesn't scale overly well. Might have to look at serving a separate site if demand is there.

You might be surprised who does and doesn't do carbs. Just because most of their clientele are injected doesn't mean they can't do carbs. If you were further north I'd recommend Roskilda in Palmerston North, he's the schnizzle for older stuff.

Try your local clubs to see what they say, otherwise it'll just be a case of picking up the phone.

If you find some place who only answers the phone after 50 rings, speaks in 2 word sentences and makes a funny grunting sound when you mention a mini, they'll be the one you want

That sounds like our local Mini expert here in Christchurch, you must have met him!

Your Christchurch Mini expert knows a lot about Su's and SU tuning. It would be a good place to start,

He has been very helpful to me and very generous to our car club.

But if you have built a throw me together with what ever engine, there is no way you can get it running properly if at all with out a dyno

The other option is to take the engine out and put it on a engine Dyno.

Lyn Rogers (AK) Brian Hartley (P/Nth) are engine builders with dynos

Thanks.

Yea Larry is a very knowledgeable and useful chap, as long as you get him on the right day lol.

I am going to go and see him again start of next week as I want a spare cylinder head and other bits.
