Post subject: | New throttle levers (?) |
Hey guys, The next in what seems like a never ending line of problems with this car has now surfaced. I'm going to try and explain it the best I can, but I'm not too sure of most of the terminology, and will probably be resorting to a workshop manual for most of it. So the car has twin HS4's on it, the throttle linkage set up was previously a bit dodgy looking, it had a plate bolted under the outlet to the brake booster that had a 90 degree bend in the end of it with two tiny holes, these two holes were for the springs for the throttle return. This looked and always felt a bit dodgy and I couldn't find any springs that gave the pedal a decent feel, so I decided to buy the HS4 heat shield set up with the cross bar for the springs See: http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-par ... BF169.html So when it arrived I felt like a king and went to go install it, it fit fine and looks like it does everything it was meant to. So I went to bolt he carby's back on when I realised I had a slight problem in the fact the the springs couldn't attach on to the carby and rotate to full throttle without wrapping themselves around the linkage bar. So long story short I think I need a new "Throttle Lever" plate looking thing that is a bit different to the one I have. I took a couple pictures hoping that the they may explain it a little better: Fully open: ![]() Fully close: ![]() (I hope they're the right way round) So what I think I need is a new plate with the holes for the springs in different positions, is this correct? Does anyone know where I would locate such a part? Thank-you for any help guys. Jordan |

I think you'll need a different linkage, the HS4 twins should, if I remember right, use the same linkage/balance rod, as HS2's. Yours looks like it's 2 originally singles made into twins. this might help. You'll notice the lver in picture (with no number) is different. https://www.minispares.com/catalogues/c ... spx?1~6~55 http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... lassic/hs2 twin .aspx|Back to search |

That's the linkage kit I purchased, that all fits fine, however there is no way for me to fit a throttle return spring using the current bracket.plate thing on the carbys. And I cant seem to find new correctly shaped ones anywhere. |

The no number bit in diagram definately looks different to me. Don't know why it has no number. Your spring mount arm looks at different angle. |
