Post subject: | Clutch feel differences to modern day cars |
Hi Currently out of action with a ruptured achilles tendon , so no driving for a while. As i get chauffeured around i wonder about the apparent ease of modern day clutches. eg My wife has the 1.5 litre Micra , good for 75kw/136 nm or 100HP in old the old scale.Clutch is so light it is almost pretend . If i did that HP in a mini i would need an orange or maybe Grey clutch with a considerable heft to it. What is the difference , hydraulics sizes????? Cheers |

Take the mighty return spring off the slave cylinder and it'll be a shiteload easier to push ![]() And yes it will self level/self return... |

Pedal in the micra probably has two feet of throw on it. |

micra's are cable clutch, my k11 micra is pretty light but ive heard a common issue is snapping the return spring in them so at a guess there not very strong springs |

I recently had to do the throwout bearing and took the opportunity to renew the hoese, salve cylinder, arm, pins etc. Eg everything from the master cylinder through to the bearing. Made a heck of a difference - not quite as light as driving my old laser but not too far off it. |
