Greetings All. About to fit steering rack. Lost, but found the second special U bolt. Ha! Never saw but was told there's a plastic band/saddle that slips in between the U bolt and rack. Is this important .Can it be a bit of rubber or plastic containers?? Alex. |

the later minis had 2 metal straps (one on each u-bolt) to help support the u-bolts,,, (an attempt to help stop the u-bolts bending) otherwise there is a felt-seal that goes over the pinion before fitting the rack to help seal the hole through the floor but that`s about it on our Aussie cars |

I dunno if you can still buy that felt seal, but a bit of closed cell 1/4" thick plastic foam works fine. |

Thanks All. Got it all in. Looks great. I used a thin strip of rubber (just to stop it chaffing.) For the spline gizmo I cut a seal out of some bitumised foam, (Stuff you use for roof sheeting back channels) Thanks again. Alex. |
