I am sure your car should have the same trim as mine. Straight lines.. I am actually selling mine.newton commercial aussie trim as the grain and colour.was slightly wrong.

what do you mean by patern? as in the grain? or the style of the cut? Have a look at the Deluxe and that will be what you need to do to be correct

I mean the profile of the vynal not the grain. The pattern stops on the base of the seats where as with your mini and mk 2s the stripes continue over and down the front of the seats. Is the profile the same on the back except the base is the only difference ?

There isnt much info on the type of seats used in Australian minis.
The UK minis used different seats, notice the Australian ones tended to be fluted stictched type seats.

Here are photos of what I believe are the original rear seats from my 66 Deluxe. The front seats have since dissapeared.

Am not sure which type of front seats it goes with.

Could it be with this:

1. BMC stitched fluted design seats http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/mini/p ... =19&type=1

2. or the ones above in Philb's red interiored Mini.

Would appreciate some clarification. Want to get my restoration correct.

Thanks in advance to all the advice to date (Phil, Michael etc)

Marc

I'm no expert and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know there were 3 patterns in the Aussie roundnoses.

1964 - 1967 Whick looks like your rear seat which I would say is the correct one for your car.

It has the set of evenly spaced pleats and the squab at the front edge. The fronts follow the same pattern.

Like this..

and this...

Actually this Blue Deluxe is on Carsales and same year as yours and looks pretty orig so worth a look as a guide.)

1967 - 1969 Is the next pattern which you see in my car

It has pleats but the 2 outer pleats are wider and all pleats continue over the front edge of the seat.

Note also that the door trim pattern changed but I'm not sure if that was at the same time as the seats.

1969 - 1971 Last pattern seen in most Mk2 minis is similar but less pleats having one wider pleat in the centre.

Also the pattern in the vinyl. Your vinyl might have a pattern like this if its original but I;m not sure if they were still using the same vinyl over those years.
