Now I have put the VH44 booster in (under the dash), I find the difference amazing. Sure it used to stop OK unboosted before (with Greenstuff pads) but it would have taken both feet to actually lock the fronts.
It is much more progressive to stop with now. Maybe I'm getting old and soft...

[edit] I will post some happy snaps of the install tomorrow.

Ahh see I followed your recommendation not to instal...now you have gone soft on us and put it in...lol.

So...how do I put mine in the clubby with the dual circuit brakes?

Hooroo

Just boost the front circuit, the rears do sfa anyway.
Yes, I did this once.

Thinking now I might chase a booster for the 'Monte' project. Doing the brake lines now. So in a MK1 single line sytem do you boost front and rear or just the front?

Ahh, good to hear. I'm just about to start chasing a booster for mine. Also running dual circuit on a Leyland. I'm reluctant to just boost the front. How hard is it to swap in a late model rover booster etc?

I'd love to see pics and details of how people have fitted the booster in.

Soft!

Anyway, I can see why you'd do it. I'm relying on the combination of the pudding stirrer and unboosted front discs in my car as a theft deterrent.

They'll probably abandon it a block from where they stole it because they were too scared to drive it.

Boost it between the MC and the brass tee on the firewall. Same as the Cooper S & GT did.
When pressure gets up to ~450psi the rear limiting valve cuts in anyway.

You can get replica PBR boosters delivered from China now, for around $180-220 I think for a plated one, painted are cheaper.
My mate Laingy just got one.

[edit] I do not know what seals these take, I have heard that the genuine PBR ones won't fit.

until i can no longer lock up all four at 100kph i dont see the point in a booster, there is something about not having power assisted anything that makes the driving experience better, more raw

I bought and reconditioned it 8? years ago for the van. Van is still a project and I got just sick of looking at this booster sitting there on the shelf....
At least mounted under the dash, it's not a PITA every time you need to pull the motor out or work on the clutch.

I have a Chinese made vh44 in Slidey works well. When delivered it was a mirror image of what I wanted. So I had to do to it was pull part of it apart and swap it over. No biggy.
Works very well with my 4 piston alloy calipers, cross drill rotars and greenstuff pads.
