Post subject:  Rear drum brake pads - opinions

Hi

Lots of options and 'performance' options regarding front pots (disc) but are there performance options for the rears?

Since the rears don't do much at all except in khana handbrake turns what does everyone use and recommend.

I am mainly interested in a track day scenario but please khana folk add your recommendations Cheers

khanas - I've never been able to get different lining material, so use whatever I'm supplied. Lightweight drums make a difference... less rotating mass to stop

but for khanas you want a sticky material that'll lock easily, with track work you want a material that doesn't lock easily

talk to a group n racer

I used remachined drums (+1/32") and size matched Australian radius ground bonded linings for years. The handbrake was nothing to write home about.
However last time, I bought new standard rear shoes from Karcraft and put them in standard drums. The handbrake locks up heaps better.
