Hi all A few months back I picked up a windowless smooth roof van a fairly early one as the vin no is 799. Its the usuall story of a shell and a dozen boxes of random bits and peices. Unfortunatly it had the interior stripped out and had been lost so had a different pair of seats with it. Question is what colour should the seats and trim be. the body colour is tartan red and should it have the white or black speedo housing?. With thr seats would it have have had the same stitching as say a K seat? would like to get this thing back as close to std as i can so any help would be great. |

The car numbers (it's not a vin) started again with each model change. I had a '66 van that was number 474... tartan red is an early colour, the seats wouldn't have been the same as a K - they'd be the same as an early 850 |

Hi Geordie, I've got a 64 850 Van with Chassis No. 710 so it should be quite comparable to yours. Mine was originally Astro Grey and had red 850 low back seats, red trim and the silver backed speedo. Although mine was grey and not red, I have a 63 Countryman in tartan red that also has a red interior. I'd assume they wouldn't have too many combinations for the commercial vans. Hope this helps!

My '60s Aussie van originally came with Tartan Red seats, door cards and dash cards. |
